There are several ways that Exchanged Church utilizes a different model than many traditional Sunday morning churches:

We do not have a building

The average church spends between 30% and 50% of all donations on a building and property. We strive to put that money to use building the Body.

For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
– Ephesians 2:18-22 (NIV)

We are intentionally small

We are focused on building small, intimate Gatherings where people can encourage spiritual growth and hold one another accountable.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
– Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.

– Matthew 18:20 (NIV)

We require everyone to serve the Body in some capacity

We are all called to serve using gifts provided by God. We believe that service should focus on helping others in the local church and the global Church. From prayer to hands-on assistance, we hope to make a difference in our communities.

Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of the varied grace of God. Whoever speaks, let it be with God’s words. Whoever serves, do so with the strength that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

– 1 Peter 4:10-11 (NEV)

We are self-led, focused on lay people

No rock star preachers here. Attending Exchanged Church is not a spectator sport. Everyone will be involved in the coordination and execution of their Gathering. We want everyone to grow confident in their skills and be able to share the Gospel with anyone, at any time.

What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.
– 1 Corinthians 14:26

WE help people break their addiction to culture

Our spiritual growth is inhibited by the influence of culture. If we are serious about walking with God, we must turn away from secular culture.

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
– 1 John 2:15-17 (NIV)
