support the mission

Join us in fulfilling the Great Commission:

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

At Exchanged, we do not believe that the Old Covenant command to tithe ten percent carries over as a binding obligation under the New Covenant. However, we fully respect the convictions of those who interpret Scripture differently. In matters where the Bible is not explicit, we aim to yield to the Holy Spirit and pursue unity within the Church. We ask that you approach this topic in the same spirit—through prayer and humility.

As Paul writes:

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written:

“They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.”

Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

2 Corinthians 9:6-11 (NIV)

We also believe that giving is not limited to financial support of a local church. As stewards of God’s blessings, we encourage each person to pray and give as the Spirit leads—whether to the church, to those in need, or to those spreading the Gospel. If you’re unable to give financially, remember that service is also a vital form of generosity.

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
– 1 Peter 4:10 (NASB 95)

Our Financial Stewardship Principles:

  1. Transparency–We will publish quarterly reports detailing all financial transactions.
  2. Accountability–All expenditures will be governed by checks and balances and must align with our mission.
  3. Focus–Our funds will be used to build the Kingdom of God. We will not own property, construct buildings, or invest in production-style worship.
  4. Humility–Our goal is to have no full-time staff paid by church funds. If necessary, any compensation will not exceed twice the federal poverty level. We believe no one should prosper financially from the sacrificial giving of others.
  5. Conduit for Sharing–Local Gatherings will be encouraged to use tithes and offerings to meet the needs of their members and local community. Contributions to the broader church will fund shared services (legal, tech, training resources).
  6. Culture–We will avoid doing business with organizations openly hostile to the Christian faith. Though it may cost more, we prioritize aligning ourselves with those who honor God.

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

1 Timothy 6:17-19 (NIV)
