Simple Faith
Simple Faith: Trusting God Like a Child
In the beginning, Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Since then, humanity has repeated their mistake—we keep reaching for what we aren’t meant to fully grasp.
Even today, many Christians struggle with the same temptation: the need to know everything. We question instead of trust. We wander instead of obey. We expect God to explain Himself as if we were His equals.
But Jesus calls us to a different posture:
“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
– Matthew 18:3 (NIV)
“Anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
– Mark 10:15 (NIV)
Faith Like a Child
Children don’t need complex explanations to trust someone they love. They accept instruction because they trust the one giving it. That’s the kind of faith God desires from us.
Instead of debating every theological theory, we are invited to embrace the clear and simple truths found in Scripture.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
– Isaiah 55:8–9 (NASB95)
An Example: The 1,000-Year Reign
Revelation 20 speaks of Jesus reigning for 1,000 years. Over time, many theories have emerged:
- Historic Premillennialism
- Dispensational Premillennialism
- Amillennialism
- Postmillennialism
- Preterism
Which theory is correct? Should the theory we embrace change how we follow Jesus Christ?
Another Example: The Second Coming
Some Christians spend countless hours trying to predict when Jesus will return. Yet Scripture says clearly:
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
– Matthew 24:36 (NASB95)
Instead of speculating, we are told to live ready:
“Therefore keep watch… you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”
– Matthew 24:42–44 (NIV)
Debates of these subjects lead to interesting discussions, but none of them change this truth: Jesus is coming back, and we must be ready.
Why Chase the Unknowable?
Too many believers spend their energy debating the mysteries of God, while neglecting the commands of God. We often ignore what can be known—what is plainly taught in Scripture—in pursuit of what may never be fully understood.
Our Position at Exchanged
At Exchanged, we focus on what’s clear in God’s Word. We value healthy discussions, even about the unknowable—but when debate leads to division, distraction, or pride, it no longer serves the body of Christ.
Instead, we pursue what we call Simple Faith—a faith that:
- Focuses on obeying what the Bible clearly teaches
- Requires no theological degree to understand
- Is simple to grasp, though not always easy to live
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.”
– Proverbs 3:5 (NASB95)
Our mission is not to figure out every mystery—but to walk faithfully in what God has revealed.
